Summary: The crime of human trafficking is considered a form of transnational organized crime, as it is related to the crime of smuggling migrants, because most of the people who are smuggled end up being trafficked.

Hence, this crime is classified among the serious crimes because it constitutes a flagrant violation of human dignity and rights, and is a form of slavery and servitude in its contemporary form.

This crime has increased dramatically at the present time through its large profit returns on criminal organizations, as well as through of the multiplicity of its causes and the assistance conditions in its spread, and this is what prompted the Algerian state to intervene and make several efforts to combat it, represented in its ratification of the United Nations Convention against Crime The Transnational Organization and the two complementary protocols, namely, the Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish human Trafficking and the Protocol against the Smuggling of Migrants by Land, Sea and Air.
