Abstract EN

The transition towards the market economy led to structural economic reforms, including the reform of the banking system, that was by the monetary and loan law 90-10, which allowed foreign investment in the banking system.

so many banks and financial institutions settled into the Algerian banking system.

this research attempts to highlight the general trend of the expansion of the foreign banks contributions in moving the economic development using the general trend line equation and the descriptive and the analytical approach.

it has been concluded that foreign banks have a positive role in driving development in the long term regarded to the positive slope of the general trend line and because of other positive indicators that are improving from year to year.

however, foreign banks should be recommended to pay attention against both legal and epidemic risks that suddenly affect their profitability.
