Sampling in qualitative research is just as important as sampling in quantitative research, but it can be considered as one of the most indicative elements of the difference between the two approaches in terms of their logics guiding sampling.

the purpose of this paper is to explore the specialized literature in order to present an overview on the topic of sampling in qualitative research through answering the following questions : what kind of sample is appropriate for qualitative research ? what are the criteria for setting the limits of the sample to be analyzed ? when is the sample selected ? and what is its optimal size ?
