Abstract EN

This study aimed to reveal the relationship between unrealistic optimism and mental health among university students according to the gender variable, and the study sample consisted of (200) students who were randomly selected from the Faculty of Social Sciences at El-Wadi University.

The research tools were applied to the study sample, which is represented in the Unrealistic Optimism Scale by Badr Al-Ansari (2000), and the Mental Health Scale by Imad Abdul-Amir Nassif and Nagham Hadi Hussein (2007).

The statistical treatment of the data was carried out using the statistical program (spss)) to answer the questions of the study and to verify the validity of the hypotheses from which the research was launched.

There is a statistically significant correlation between unrealistic optimism and mental health.

With no statistically significant differences between males and females in both unrealistic optimism and mental health.
