In this study, we try to touch on the manifestations of sadness in contemporary Arab poetry, which varied between a sense of depression and despair, and a feeling of loneliness and alienation, based on the pioneer poets' models.

To practice the self-experience with reality, which he did not reject from his bitter events, but accepted them sadly without rebellion through his feeling about a society that enabled him to lie, backwardness, hunger and disease.

And we took the scientific curiosity to seek the effect of this deep sadness among the pioneer poets, through each of (Nazik Al-Malaika, Ahmed Abdel Muti Hijazi, Salah Abdel-Sabour, Badr Shaker Al-Sayyab), wondering about the causes of this sadness and how they expressed it in their poems?
