The West took care of the heritage of other civilizations, especially the Islamic civilization, so they codified and collected a huge amount of information in an encyclopedic book called "The Encyclopedia of Islam.

" It contained the summary and essence of the Orientalist phenomenon on the Islamic Heritage It was called the "circle of Islamic knowledge", the concept of Islam: belief, jurisprudence, literature, language, philosophy, history of Islamic peoples, flags, arts and others.

However, it has remained a work subject to criticism because of the multiplicity of backgrounds in its codification and the association of some of its authors with ideological schemes that serve Western religious, political and scientific systems, which has affected the credibility of the information contained therein.

In this respect, we will try to review the beginnings of the writing of the Islamic Encyclopedia (Orientalism), how it was done, when and on what basis? What publications, translations and scientific elite contributed to its composition? What are the cultural horizons on which this elite was based?
