Abstract EN

This study aimed to present and evaluate the reality of the insurance industry in Algeria during the year 2022, the study was applied to 21 insurance companies in Algeria, divided into 13 damage insurance companies and 08 personal insurance companies.

The study concluded that the insurance industry in Algeria did not achieve the expected results from the state, After carrying out many radical reforms since independence until 2022, The share of private insurance companies is still only 26% of the Algerian insurance market, On the other hand, public companies remain the dominant or monopolist of this sector, The share of personal insurance remains less than 10% of the total turnover of the insurance sector.

Consequently, Algerian insurance companies should work on the experiences of successful countries in the insurance industry to raise the performance of this sector, which contributes to raising the level of gross domestic product.
