Child marriage is a grave violation of the fundamental rights of the child, and behind it are many social, cultural and economic causes, and its repercussions on a child are dire, especially girls because of early pregnancy and the resulting risks, in addition to that it misses the opportunity for them to have a formal education, which deprives them of a job opportunity that gives them financial and social independence.

To address this phenomenon, the community of nations has made many efforts culminating in international conventions that do not explicitly address child marriage, with the exception of United Nations resolutions that considered it a harmful practice to children and called on countries to make more efforts to protect married children educationally, healthily and economically.
