There has always been a heightened sensitivity among Western countries and countries in the Asia-Pacific region, especially over the situation of human rights, as governments have deemed it right to openly criticize each other regarding what they consider to be human rights violations, and asian countries have viewed such criticism as arrogant, provocative and volatile and has always provoked they have great resentment ; these states have vigorously defended the treatment of human rights issues, instead pointing out that those who criticize them have violated human rights, both past and present.

the West has used the human rights situation in Asian countries as an instrument of political pressure, and despite a certain degree of polarization between east and west, there is no homogeneous group in its considerations of human rights in complete contrast to what we might call the polarization of universality and specificity in this field.
