Abstract EN

This study investigates the cut-off in addition which is a frequently used linguistic phenomenon in the Holy Qur’an, the Hadith and Arabic language, highlighting linguists and interpreters' opinions, agreements and disagreements regarding such linguistic manifestations both grammatically and semantically, especially in the Holy Qur’an, given that this topic is one of the most controversial linguistic topics, and the extent to which the semantic aspect of this phenomenon is taken into account, and the extent to which this phenomenon exists in the Holy Qur’an.

the study comes in two sections each discussing one main aspect of the cut-off phenomenon : the first section covers the grammatical aspect and the second deals with the semantic dimension.

the descriptive analytical method was used in the study.

it was revealed that cut-off in additions serves various semantic purposes governed by the context.

the study also concluded that this phenomenon is still alive and used in our language repertoire given its vital role in giving room to the speaker and the interlocutor to diversify the connotations and enrich the meanings as opposed to adjectival cut-off.

the research relied on the descriptive approach due to its existing nature.
