This research aims to study the domain of words denoting" Stinginess "in the book" al- Talkhīṣ fī M’arifat Asmā 'al’-Ašyā "’by Abu Hilal al-Askari (d.

395 AH), in the context of modern linguistic studies' theories of meaning.

the research relies on the explanation and interpretation of these words in Arabic dictionaries.

It is divided into two sections.

the first section deals with the concept of the theory of semantic fields and its roots in the Arabic linguistic heritage.

the second section deals with the fifteen terms of stinginess in the book "al- Talkhīṣ" in order to reveal the origins of these terms, understand the changes that followed them in their significance, and provide justifications for their use in the meaning of stinginess.

the research relies on a descriptive approach to monitor and analyze the words and indicate the semantic relationships between them.

among the results reached is the emergence of a synonymous relationship between some words that shared all the semantic features.

understanding the semantic origin of a word helps reveal the semantic development of utterances, while detecting semantic features helps establish relationships between words.
