Abstract EN

This paper introduces Hichem Djaït’s contribution to the history of the political, military, administrative and judicial institutions in the Maghreb in the first and second centuries AH.

It highlights his pioneering and founding role in studying the offices of soldiers, letters, mail, tax, alms, embroidery, and the State Treasury, and comparing the workflow in these offices with their counterparts in the Byzantine era, and the period stretching from the initial spread of Islam to the Abbasid Caliphate, in all of his writings, but with particular focus on The Establishment of the Islamic West - the First and Second Centuries AH/ Seventh and Eighth AD; Kūfa: the Emergence of the Arab-Islamic City; And Fitnah: The Dialectic of Religion and Politics in Early Islam.
