Abstract EN

This article aims to highlight the Portuguese job careers at Omani Ports during the 16th Century (AD), by providing a reading in the Portuguese archive files.

The Portuguese dominated the Omani ports since the beginning of the 16th Century (AD) and they asserted their existence there by establishing forts, military garrisons and robust Portuguese communities with different job careers to fulfill their interests.

The study also aims to identify the job careers held by the Portuguese people at Omani ports by reviewing and analyzing the Portuguese archive files.

The study employs the descriptive and analytical approach for being the appropriate method for this study.

It also employs the historical approach to identify the job careers and their impact on Oman economy in light of the main goals the Portuguese intended to achieve.
