Abstract EN

This study aimed to identify the situation of the international student mobility at Saudi universities and its development requirements, and showing the most outstanding experiences of organizations and association of the international academic mobility that can be used to propose a conception for developing the international student mobility at Saudi universities.

a hybrid of methodologies, convergent and parallel, was used to know the point of view of a sample composed of (657), deans, vice-deans, and heads of departments.

a questionnaire and an interview were administered to a quantitative sample of teaching staff members (243) and a qualitative sample (10).

the study revealed that : there were initiatives and applications for international student mobility at Saudi universities in that the universities applied some initiatives that represented different dimensions for the international student mobility at Saudi universities ; King Fahd University for oil and minerals showed an international student mobility ; the most significant organizational requirements, from both quantitative and qualitative samples' point of view, were : making policies and spreading them, the need to reinforce the organizational culture of the student mobility ; achieving independence for universities and flexibility for administrative procedures, and the need for a joint vision between local and global universities in the field of mobility.

however, the most significant requirements of implementations for enacting plans and goals for attracting distinguished international students, after a comprehensive preparation for the system, were training academic and administrative staffs on the international student mobility management, and enacting an electronic registration in the student mobility programmes, internationalizing curricula and achieving their quality to be more competitive, beginning with appropriate specializations such as medicine and technology, establishing a system for equivalence by using expert universities and authorities of mobility, doing marketing campaigns for universities, establishing a system for evaluation and using its results for improvement and development.

the study showed the experience of a number of world organizations and aassociations that paid attention to the international academic mobility` to check their allies applied.

Finally, the study introduced its role in helping individuals and institutions to pay attention to the international student mobility for internationalizing and achieving the effective academic and administrative support for mobility.

based on the literature review and previous studies, both quantitative and qualitative findings of the study, a conception for developing the international student mobility at saudi universities in light of experiences of both organizations and association of the international academic mobility was proposed.
