Abstract EN

This study aims at finding out the level of social and psychological support provided to the families of people with special needs in the center of Duhok governorate.

It also aims at finding out the level of social psychological support provided to the families of individuals with special needs in relation to the gender of the disabled individual.

The study used a descriptive approach and the research instrument was a questionnaire.

The population of the study was the families of the individuals with special needs who are affiliated to one of the social care institutions in Duhok governorate where samples of these families were chosen randomly.

The sample were (95) parents.

The researcher analyzed the data using the SPSS program, and used the One Sample T.

test, Independent Sample T.

test and Pearson correlation coefficient as statistical tools for analysis.

The findings revealed that the level of social psychological support provided to the families of people with special needs was average and there were no significant differences in the level of support given to the families related to the gender variable.

Finally, the study recommended increasing the level of support and help by the official and unofficial authorities.
