Abstract EN

Objective: The study aims to identify the concept of tolerance and the methods of promoting its values and their reflection on societal security.

Methodology: The study used both the quantitative and the qualitative approaches through description and analysis, where the research problem of promoting tolerance values and their reflection on security in society was described and then the data was analysed.

The study tried to poll the opinion of the study sample which comprised 67 officers and 18 faculty members working in the Police Science Academy in the Emirate of Sharjah.

The questionnaire was the main tool for the study.

Results: Among the findings of the study is that tolerance is an ethical behaviour that achieves happiness.

Also, tolerance strengthens relations between people in various fields, instils love, and eliminates antagonism and hatred.

Conclusion: Proper family upbringing, schools, universities, and religious institutions spread the culture of tolerance which increases social cohesion between people and gives individuals a sense of social security.

However, there are limitations that face the process of spreading the culture of tolerance that are represented mostly in the rapid social change in society as well as in intolerance in all its forms.
