Abstract EN

The study deals with the life of Abi Marwan Al-Kurtubi, definiteness by the addition, attribution, and feedbacks in adding two letters as (yed, dam, and kad)/ (hand, blood and tomorrow) as well as the addition of: the two letters in (ism, bint, kilta, and fam)/ (name, girl, both, and mouth), al-fa’a letter is gone in (idah, zinah, and shieah), and the addition to all nouns with double “e” merged in one another as (muhayeem).

The most important results show that Abu Marrwan confirmed Sibawaih in attribution to (yed, dam, kad, and muhayeem, …etc.).

At the same time, he was in contrast to Sibawaih in one point which is the attribution to the name as (samawion) with sien madhmumah and (simawion) with sien maksurah in (sum and sim).

Abu Marwan adopted Al-serafi’s view that attribution to (bint and killa/ girl and both) did not make any addition .He mentioned that the intruded ta’a al-taneeth between two letters has two functions.

The first is to replace the original letter because of the silence of the previous letter whereas the second is as ha’a al-taneeth to differentiate between masculine and feminine.

As such Abu Marwan was following Al- Basrah’ school in adopting the views of Sibawaih in explaining and analyzing any change in the word because of attribution.
