The study aims to know the development in adult education and literacy in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during the period 1982-2005, as well as its importance in the development and education of Saudi society, as it contributes to the elimination of illiteracy, which stands as a barrier in the course of the development of societies and their intellectual and cultural prosperity, and this is largely reflected on Its development and renaissance was delayed, and therefore the Kingdom directed its attention to adult education and literacy, and developed programs and plans for that, and included all classes and groups of society as well as all regions of the Kingdom, and worked all for the purpose of achieving the comprehensive renaissance the Kingdom aspired to, and the result of this was clear as the illiteracy rate decreased Significantly in Saudi society during the study period, and for this purpose, (The development of adult education and literacy in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia 1982 - 2005).
