The study of the Islamic city is considered one of the important studies, which aroused the interest of researchers, because of its importance in understanding the basic aspects of the planning of the Islamic city, including the cultural aspects of the city.

Westerners focused on studying the Islamic city, but their studies in most of them were characterized by brevity and the orientalist trend prevailed over them, including the British scientist Arnold Toynbee, who studied human civilizations, including the Arab Islamic civilization, but he did not single out a book on this matter or even a research, but his views were on the Islamic city They are spread in the folds of his books and research, so we investigated these opinions and collected them in a single research, which necessitated dividing it into an introduction, five axes and a conclusion, which are as follows: The first axis: his name, lineage, upbringing, and his writings, the second axis: the Islamic city in the views and opinions of Toynbee, and the third axis.

The emergence of the Islamic city according to Toynbee's theory, and the fourth axis dealt with: a comparison between Toynbee's views and the views of Qadamah bin Jaafar and Ibn Khaldun on the emergence of the Islamic city, while the fifth axis concerned the planning of the Islamic city according to Toynbee's views.
