Abstract EN

This study aimed to identify the most important psychological and social needs of the Syrian refugees in the Gaza, and to investigate the level of satisfaction of their psychosocial and social needs, and to what extent they experience the required quality of life.

The study investigated the relationship between social and psychosocial needs on one hand, and the desired quality of life on the other hand.

It also discussed the impact of demographic variables on the investigated psychosocial and social needs in addition to life quality experienced by the Syrian Refugees in the Gaza.

The study sample included 103 Syrian refugees selected from the study population, which includes 798 Syrian refugees living in all of Gaza.

To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher used the analytical descriptive method, and the following tools : Psychological and social needs scale developed by the researcher, and Quality of Life Scale prepared by WHO.

It was noted that the level of satisfaction of the psychological and social needs among the Syrian refugees in the Gaza is good.

The implemented scale has four dimensions.

The dimension of self achievement came first with a relative weight of 77.3%.

This was followed by social needs with a relative weight of 76.8%, self-esteem with a relative weight of 74.0%, and finally security needs with a relative weight of 61.5%.

It was noted that quality of life level of the Syrian refugees in the Gaza is average.

The implemented scale has four dimensions.

The dimension of quality of social life came first with a relative weight of 66.4%.

This was followed by life environment quality with a relative weight of 63.7%, physical life quality with a relative weight of 58.3%, and finally psychological life quality with a relative weight of 57.8%.

In order to determine the quality of life of the refugees in the Gaza, the implemented scale has been classified into three levels : low, medium, high.

The results showed that 13.6% of the Syrian refugees in the Gaza have a low quality level of life, 81.6% of them have a medium quality level of life, and 4.9% of them have a high quality level of life.
