The Ottoman rule of Iraq was subjected to many shocks, which were a natural outcome of Iraq’s subjugation to Persia.

It was due to the Ottoman weakness and the dissolution of the Janissary army, which became a source of strife, turmoil and played a dangerous role in agitating internal strife.

When Murad IV ruled his ambitions began to appear to restore Iraq, and their attempts were made one after the other until an attempt appeared on the horizon in 1638 AD.

It is considered among the important campaigns that resulted in entering Iraq under the Ottoman rule once again, and it is called by some historians as the "Recovery Campaign", meaning the recovery of Iraq from Safavid domination.

From this point of view, the title of the research came to shed light on one of the important campaigns launched by the Ottomans, the campaign of Sultan Murad IV to restore Baghdad in 1638 AD.
