Abstract EN

This research aims to counter the criticism directed towards Imam Muslim due to the hadiths he reported in his Sahih based on Makhramah Ibn Bukayr’s narration on the authority of his father.

It was alleged that Makhramah did not hear from his father.

We employed the inductive approach to collect these hadiths, and the analytical method to verify the conditions for accepting hadith.

One of the findings is that the texts of the seventeen hadiths that Imam Muslim reported from Makhramah on the authority of his father are well known.

Imam Al-Bukhari concurred with Muslim in ten of the seventeen hadiths, while Muslim alone reported four.

However, these hadiths have follow-ups and evidence in the two Sahihs or in Sahih Muslim but differently narrated in Makhramah.

Similarly, other Hadith Scholars also agreed with Imam Muslim in reporting the remaining three.

The status of those hadiths, as reported through al-wijādah, does not harm their authenticity.

This is because the conditions for accepting al-wijādah were fulfilled.

More importantly, all the hadith of Makhramah reported by Muslim are hadiths of Ibn Wahb on the authority of Makhramah.

Moreover, Ibn Wahb’s hadith on the authority of Makhramah are generally authentic according to Ibn Ady.
