Abstract EN

The main objective of this study is to recognize the nature of the professional interferences of social worker in the medical field during urgent health crises with application to Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis, requirements of practicing these interferences, and the obstructions that may prevent from achieving that as hoped.

The study tool is applied to a random sample of social workers of (380) individuals.

The study results has revealed that the most significant professional interferences expected from social workers in the medical field to deal with Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis as an urgent health crisis, include: providing the necessary social support for those who are infected with the virus, enabling the patient’s family to communicate with the treatment team when necessary, cooperating with the medical team for the patients’ benefit and providing the treatment medical team with sufficient information about the social and family status of the patients infected with the virus.

The study results have shown that some of the most important requirements that must be available in the social worker to enable him of the efficient professional interference during the urgent health crises as in Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis are: being acquainted with the protection methods from the virus, the necessary care for patients, familiarity with sufficient knowledge about the crisis of virus spread and knowing the appropriate treatment methods of infected patients.
