يعد أوغسطين (354-430 م) من أبرز المفكرين الذين أنجبتهم الكنيسة المسيحية في القرن الخامس الميلادي، و ذلك بسبب الأثر الكبير الذي تركه على الفكر الديني الغربي.
فهو من أقوى الفلاسفة المدافعين عن العقيدة المسيحية.
فالتأثير الأوغسطيني لا ينبع من قوانينه فحسب، إنما ينبع من مؤلفاته الغزيرة التي حارب بها كل مشاكل عصره آنذاك.
و تكمن أهمية الدراسة في أن قوانين القديس أوغسطين قد دخلت إلى الحياة النسكية الغربية، و كانت عمادا للقوانين التي وضعها المؤسسون الأخرون فيما بعد.
لذا وجهت هذه الدراسة للبحث في حياة القديس الشخصية، ثم تناولت مقرراته الرهبانية في إفريقيا، و أخيرا ذيلت الدراسة بخاتمة استخلصت منها النتائج.

The Augustine of the most prominent thinkers who have given birth of the Christian church in the fifth century AD, due to the great impact that has on the religious Aagharba thought, as it is Augustine of the strongest philosophers defenders of the Christian faith, that the effect Augustine does not stem from its laws only, but rather stems from the writings of heavy .
