Al-Kadhimiya is a holy religious city, located in the center of Iraq and on the western banks of the Tigris River from Baghdad at a distance of two leagues (9 km), and it is considered one of the mothers of Islamic cities, for its religious, industrial and commercial fame.

And one of the most important centers of the holy shrines in Iraq.

The spiritual position and the religious position have a distinct moral importance and a large share in intellectual activity in general and in the world of literature in particular.

The Holy Kindergarten, through its long history, has given birth to many scholars, virtuous people, intellectuals, and many poets and writers who were known in this field.

The thought of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) is the first school that the Kadhimiya thinkers were influenced by in the history of modern and contemporary Iraq up to the present time, and the goal was to preserve the Islamic heritage from being lost.

His knowledge is from the Noble Qur’an and the Noble Messenger Muhammad (may God bless him and grant him peace), who said: “I am the city of knowledge and Ali is its gate.”The Grand Imam al-Khalisi School (Quds) in the holy Kadhimiya is considered a religious, national and unitary edifice in the contemporary history of Iraq.

The first building block of the Khalisi school was laid by the Mujahid Imam, the Great Ayatollah Sheikh Muhammad Mahdi al-Khalisi al-Kabir (Quds) in 1330 AH corresponding to 1911 CE.

In addition, he intended to introduce branches of modern sciences such as engineering, chemistry, medicine and agriculture, in which the student could specialize in order to make practical use of them for the benefit of Muslims and Iraq.
