Abstract EN

The current study aimed to identify the effect of having children with disabilities on the occurrence of divorce between partners by revealing the psychological and social problems resulting from having a child with disabilities in the city of hail from the point view of mothers of children with disabilities.

the study also aimed to develop a proposal that contributes to reducing the incidence of divorce as a result of the psychological and social problems resulting from the birth of a child with a disability.

the current study used the qualitative approach, and the semi-structured interview was employed as a data collection tool.

the study sample consisted of (5) mothers who had a child with disabilities.

the study concluded that the most prominent psychological problems resulting from the birth of a child with a disability, which contributed to the occurrence of divorce from the point view of mothers of children with disabilities, were fear and shock.

the results of the study also showed that the most prominent social problems after having children with disabilities, and one of the reasons for the occurrence of divorce was the negativity of the society surrounding the family, the low level of awareness and the mothers' reluctance to marry again after the birth of a child with disabilities.

the study presented a proposal to reduce the incidence of divorce represented in raising the awareness of the family and society to protect the rights of the family and the stability of marital life after the birth of a child with a disability.
