Abstract EN

The current research aims to know: 1- Emotional competence among university students.

2- The imagined desire of university students.

3- The differences in the relationship between emotional competence and imagined desire among university students according to the variables of gender (male - female) and specialization (scientific - human).

The current research was determined by the students of Al-Mustansiriya University, and their number was (400) for the academic year (2020/2021).

To achieve the objectives of the research, the emotional efficiency scale was built, which consisted of (40) items, and the perceived desire scale was built, which consisted of 21 items distributed over (3) domains, and the psychometric properties were extracted from the validity and stability of the scales.

As for the stability, the Alpha Cronbach method was extracted, it reached the emotional efficiency (0.77) and the perceived desire (0.74), and the data were collected and analyzed statistically using the following statistical methods, internal consistency, Pearson correlation coefficient test, the alpha-Cronbach equation for internal consistency, and the following results were reached.

: 1- University students have a high level of emotional competence.

2- The research sample enjoys the imagined desire.

3- There are no differences in the correlation between emotional competence and imagined desire according to the gender variable, while there are differences in the relationship according to specialization (scientific, human) and in favor of the scientific.

In light of this, the researcher presented a number of recommendations and suggestions.
