Abstract EN

The current research aimed to identify (the feeling of personal control among the elderly) in the province of Baghdad and to identify the significance of the differences in the feeling of personal control among the elderly according to gender, (males - females) and the social status variable (single - married).

The research sample consisted of ( 300) of the elderly, (173) males and (127) females, selected from the original community of the elderly in Baghdad governorate.

The researcher extracted indicators of validity and reliability of the scale.

The researcher used a set of statistical methods, including (arithmetic mean, standard deviation, and equation Cronbach's alpha, chi-square, t-test for two independent samples), and the statistical package (SPSS) was used to reach the required results in the research procedures.

The current research concluded that the elderly do not have a sense of personal control.

There are no statistically significant differences in the sense of personal control according to Variable gender and marital status in the elderly.
