Abstract EN

The current research aims to identify the illusion of control for the preparatory study.

To achieve the objectives of the research, the researcher built the research tool (the illusion of control scale), where he built the illusion of control scale based on the theory (Langer1975),The scale consisted of (20) items divided into two components (maximization or expectation of the probability of success, overconfidence), each component (10) items, In front of each paragraph, there are four alternatives (it always applies to me, applies to me often, applies to me sometimes, applies to me a little), The researcher applied the two scales to the research sample of (400) middle school students in Dhi Qar Governorate for the academic year (2021-2022) and they were chosen by random method.

The researcher reached the following results: 1- Existence of the illusion of control among middle school students.

2- There are no statistically significant differences in the illusion of control between males and females.
