Abstract EN

This study seeks to interrogate the novel of metamorphosis by Franz Kafka and shows its impact upon Saudi novels in both levels vision and formatting.

to achieve this goal, the study recommended three Saudi novels that were clearly and obviously affected by the novel of metamorphosis.

the three novels are " Mr.

K Life" by Ali Al Shadwi, "The Critical Case for Mr.

K" by Aziz Mohammed and "Al Maskh" by Walaa Oada Abo Ghandar.

the importance beyond this study is that it is, according to my knowledge, the first study that scientifically handles how Saudi novels are affected by Franz Kaf ka's novel "the metamorphosis" in a separate way.

the study has used the tools of the comparative approach to examine the relations among these narrative works in addition to examining the points of similarity and differences among them.

they study has dealt with two questions assuming that their answers shall strongly clarify the explanation and obviously show the destinations.

the questions are "how the novel of the metamorphosis has affected the aforementioned Saudi novels upon the levels of parallel text and narrative structures?" and "What are the structural and semantic purposes driven from this impact?".

Hence, the study started with an introduction, two sections and a conclusion.

the introduction gave a short brief about the concept of influence and impact in comparative criticism then a short brief about Kafka's life and the position of his literature in Arabic criticism.

the first section handled how influence and impact are formatted in parallel texts.

the second section handled how influence and impact are formatted in narrative structures.

the study ended with a conclusion that pictures the most important outcomes and recommendations provided by the study.
