Abstract EN

This study tackles the experience of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the field of charitable housing in the urban society.

It aims to learn about the housing characteristics of charitable housing, as well as the characteristics of the charitable housing environment in Hail.

The importance of the study lies in obtaining quantitative and quali tative data on charitable housing that contributes to formulating a multi-faceted housing policy in the Kingdom.

Moreover, it raises the awareness of the officials, planners, and decision-makers of the importance of providing adequate housing for the poor classes in Saudi society.

The study includs 125 charitable housing units, in the city of Hail.

The study concludes that all charitable housing is of the type of residential villas, and that the area of the land granted to the respondents is not less than 800 square meters; one part is built while the other part is left unconstructed.

The results also show that the age of charitable housing doesn't not exceed 20 years, and the average number of rooms is 3.87 rooms, and toilets are 2.4.

Regarding the residential environment of charitable housing, the study shows a lack of services and facilities of all kinds and forms.

The study recommends a number of recommendations, the most important of which are : increasing the size of the building block for charitable housing to match the size of the benefiting families from charitable housing, and the necessity of taking into ac count the establishment of charitable housing in neighborhoods with complete facilities and services.

Providing the necessary services such as religious, educational, health services, school transportation, shopping centers, playgrounds, amusement parks, and public parks, as well as enhanced security patrols, garbage collection, and residential neighborhood cleanliness..
