Abstract EN

The Olson Family Adaptability and Cohesion Evaluation Scale (FACES-III) is considered to be one of the most popular “circumplex model” tools for studying and treating families based on systemic family therapies.

The aim of this current study is to determine the validity and the reliability of the (FACES-III) on the Algerian environment.

The version that has been translated to the Arabic language by Boumazouza in 2016 was applied on a sample of 910 high school and university students of both genders.

The percentage of the male participants was 43.

3% and the percentage of the females was 56.

7%.

The results of the study that are related to the validity of the scale revealed signs of high and significant internal consistency between the items and their dimensions and between the dimensions and the overall degree of the scale.

The scale also had a significant veracity in regards to the discriminatory validity, and the results have shown high and significant stability through the split-half reliability method and the Cronbach's alpha method.

This indicates the possibility of using the Arabic version of (FACES-III), as it has sufficient psychometric characteristics to assess family adaptability and family cohesion, in addition to family functioning in Algerian society.
