Abstract EN

This research discusses a number of opinions about the nature of the Mahri language, and it aims to monitor the general lines of its most important features like in phoneme, singular and composition.

It also reviews examples of its semantic fields compared to Arabic, and trying to identify an ongoing problem among scholars about the Mahri language whether it is a language or a dialect.

From the researcher's closest point of view, and through many of its vocabulary and semantics, it can be attributed to be a dialect of an ancient language, or a mixture of ancient Yemeni languages.

It could be also of the classical Arabic since most of its sounds, many of its vocabulary, structures and semantic fields have a direct or indirect connection with the classical Arabic.
