Food security is one of the main goals that all countries seek to achieve.

One of the most important challenges facing the Arab Republic of Egypt is the development of the agricultural sector to achieve food security while preserving limited water resources, as fresh water is the most limited resource at the present time - especially with the construction of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam and its negative effects on Egypt's share of water.

In addition to what Egypt witnessed in the recent period of severe drought and lack of rain - which is the main determinant of agricultural development in Egypt.

And the continuous decrease in non-renewable groundwater resources as a result of agricultural expansion during the past decades or misuse.

In addition, the increasing reliance on food imports from abroad is beset by difficulties related to the stability of food prices in the global market and their tendency to rise sharply at times or to a shortage in food supplies.
