Abstract EN

This study deals with the latest updates in the field of pragmatics, mainly through two parts.

first, it tackles the main concepts of pragmatics that are based on speech acts and conversation's rules and argumentation.

the second part is more comparative on a methodological and procedural basis.

thus, it studies the position of pragmatics within the western linguistic modern fields.

it also tries to spot many aspects that differentiate pragmatics from the rest of linguistic fields.

this study attempts to use procedural pragmatics in order to surpass the limitations set by the traditional analysis in Arab studies and replace it with a more contextual basis, in order to grasp the intention of the speaker instead of merely focusing on the meaning of the sentence itself.
