known to be the fourth art, theatre is convincingly considered a means of expression that conveys human messages.

throughout such process of representation, theatrical performance fosters ideas and ideological aspirations in its treatment of social and political issues.

as such, we observe how the Algerian theatre that emerged within a tense political atmosphere of confrontation between conservative and Western colonial cultures was innately defined by the struggle to preserve values, constants, identity, language, and religion.
