The desire to control water sources, agricultural lands, transportation routes, and borders is one of the causes that always lead to conflicts and wars between kingdoms and states, especially neighboring ones.

there is hardly any era or region without this phenomenon.

in this research, we will talk about a model for this conflict between two neighboring countries in Mesopotamia in ancient times, namely Lagash and Umma, where their history dates back to the era of the dawn of dynasties, which represents the beginning of history in Iraq, and a conflict has erupted between these two kingdoms characterized by continuity and renewal approaching a century of time, due to the dispute over borders, water sources and agricultural land, and the existence of the first arbitration process in history to draw borders, which shows that this phenomenon is deep in old, and it is renewed with the difference of time and place.
