Abstract EN

This study seeks to collect the trilateral-doubled verbs that derive from the form (fa-u- a / فعل) in various sources in order to explore a clear idea of their number and views of the scholars related to this concern.

the researcher has applied the descriptive method based on investigation, discussion.

analysis of the verbs and explanation of the scholars' perspectives.

a present / future form of the verbs will be clarified as well.

this study has revealed important findings: the trilateral-doubled verbs derived from the form (fa-u-la) can be distributed into two kinds.

the first type is the actual use of the verbs heard from the Arabs because one of language characteristics is acceptance by means of usage.

the second type is the transition of the verb from its structure to the form (fa-u-la) for the purpose of praise or exclamation.

for instance: the word (hubba / حب) the quantity of verbs stated by the grammarians reached eleven types and they almost unanimously agree on the occurrency of the verb (labuta /لببت) while they disagree in the rest of them.

through his book “al-Bahr al-Muhit”, was the only one who mentioned verbs which had not stated by the grammarians.

he also did not mention them in his book “al-Irtishaf”.

these verbs are: (sarurta / سرز) and (falulta / فلت) al-Samin al-Halabi was the only one who mentioned the verb (malulta / ملت) and made it one of the verbs that occur in the form (fa-'u-la).

this study revealed that the occurency of the trilateral-doubled verb in the form (fa-u- la) is few.

however, it is not limited to one or two verbs.

but rather goes beyond that.

especially if we expand to the transformed verb from its structure to the form (fa-u-la).

the present / future verb is used in the form (fa-u-la) with Damma short vowel except the verb (labuta /لببت) and this verb is utilized by analogy by uttering it with Damma short vowel.

Fatha short vowel is also uttered.

this was due to the interference between languages as argued by the scholars.
