Abstract EN

This study aimed at identifying the predictive power of resisting temptation in overcoming relapse among a sample of those undergoing treatment in addiction centers in Jordan.

The study sample consisted of (330) individuals of those undergoing treatment in addiction centers.

In order to achieve the study objectives, the researchers developed the scale of temptation resistance and the scale of overcoming relapse; their validity and reliability were verified.

The results revealed that the level of overcoming relapse was high for all the dimensions and the overall dimension among the study sample individuals, whereas the level of resisting temptation was medium.

The results revealed that there is a statistically significant positive correlation relationship between resisting temptation and overcoming relapse.

The results also revealed that temptation–resistance predicts about (12.4%) of avoiding relapse among those undergoing treatment in addiction centers.

In the light of the results, the study recommended the necessity of paying more attention to developing treatment programs inside the treatment centers as well as adopting more advanced methods that are concerned about the social and psychological domains which may raise the level of resisting temptations that face those individuals during their life and promote their ability to encounter the stressors that tackle them.
