Climate maps are maps of natural distributions because everything that is represented on them is nothing but a distribution of climate elements, and thus they are considered objective maps, in order to prepare any good map for geographical research, it is necessary to choose the appropriate cartographic representation method with all its means and methods of representation, the map is an important tool for the geographer, as it enables him to communicate information and data faster and more clearly in understanding and comprehension compared to relying on absolute numbers, tables and lengthy explanations, thus, maps have an important place in geographic information systems, its use gives more flexibility in designing maps than any traditional manual or cartographic method.

the research aims to prepare digital maps for the elements of heat and rain for the district of Al-Diwaniyah in the best ways and cartographic methods used by relying on geographic information systems (GIS) technology.

the aim is to highlight the spatial variance of the element to be represented.

the research relied on the ARC GIS 10.3 program in preparing and designing the two-component maps in the judiciary based on the two methods of equal lines and areal gradient.

the research found that the isolines method, although it is the most common in representing the elements of climate, including the elements of temperature and rain, however, the areal gradient method was distinguished from it by its high visual perception through its use of the color gradient, which expresses the gradient in the amount of the phenomenon.
