This search aimed to detecting of the effectiveness of a training program for parents to provide self-determination skills for their children with intellectual disabilities.

The search relied on the quasi-experimental approach, the search sample consisted of (32) parents into two groups (experimental and control), each consisting of (16) parents.

The search used several tools, Self-determination skills scale, A training program for parents to develop the skills of self-determination for their intellectually disabled children, The results of the search found: There is a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the experimental group in the pre and post application in favor of the post application in the dimensions included in the self-determination skills scale and in the total score, It also found that there is a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the experimental group and the control group on the scale of self-determination skills in the post-measurement in favor of the experimental group, It also found that there is a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the experimental group in the dimensional and follow-up application in favor of the follow-up application in the dimensions included in the self-determination skills scale and in the total degree, The search recommended the necessity of benefiting from the training program prepared by the researcher by school counselors in providing parents with skills of self-determination for their children with intellectual disabilities.
