Among the important documents kept by the archives of the state of Tipaza, which have social, economic and religious value, are the documents of the colonial period of the sharia court in Cherchell, from which important information can be extracted that reflects our social character, economic activity and historical development of the society of this city.

the problem of this article raises the issue of the records of the sharia court in Cherchell and its importance by defining it and its most important features, in addition to how it was written, and the role of the judge who had the right to judge legal cases in accordance with the teachings of the Islamic religion.

and what can be concluded by studying these records and their position as the most important source for writing the social, economic and cultural history of Algeria.
