Abstract EN

This study deals with the role of the religious authority in the Shiite politi cal dispute after the resignation of Kazem Al-Hairi.

It is known that the religious authority has played a significant role in the history of Iraq.

Additionally, the study discusses the subject from several aspects as following : the concept of the religious authority, its emer gence, and fragmentation following the Iranian Islamic Revolution of 1979.

Also, it deals with the resignation of Al-Hairi and its relationship to the Shiite political dispute in Iraq.
