This scientific paper aims to present a critical approach between Plato’s position on art and the artistic experience as simulation, a position that was characterized by condescension to art, belittling it and keeping it away from the field of truth, and Gadamer’s position, which gives simulation a different concept, which he sees as an act of recognition, thus granting artistic experience a new perception, extracting according to him artistic work is subjective and evaluates its connection to reality.

art as a subject of understanding must be explained and interpreted so that we can understand its function in society, and this is the task of hermeneutics.

for Gadamer, hermeneutics has expanded to include everything that is comprehensible and interpretable, including art work.

Gadamer faced with these perceptions the reality of alienation imposed by the abstract aesthetic awareness.
