Abstract EN

The current research aims to identify the emotional intelligence and its relationship to the professional compatibility of the psychological counselor in the basic education institutions in the city of Bani Walid, in order to achieve the goal of the research, the researcher used the descriptive method for the research, and the study community included all the psychological counselors in the basic education institutions affiliated to the education control in Bani Walid, the sample of the study was (32) psychological counselors who were chosen from (12) schools of basic education in a simple random way.

the psychological counselor has a high level of emotional intelligence, and this is due to the nature of his studies and his professional preparation, which makes him more aware of the course of the academic and life environment in general, and more able to control his emotions and sentiments, as it became clear through this study that the respondents more enjoy the use of conscience and then appreciation followed by the use of conscience, followed by the emotional regulation.

the study also showed that communication between the psychological counselor and the department of counseling and psychological guidance contributes to his acquisition of an appropriate amount of emotional intelligence, especially if he has an interdependence with his surrounding environment through lectures, workshops, or training programs in and outside schools regarding his commitment to them.

through this work, a statement was made the lack of development and support by the school administration in implementing some of the school's counseling programs is what drives the student teacher's self-development to devise means to implement these programs.

also, it turned out that the psychological counselor suffers from a lack of financial and moral capabilities to implement counseling programs in the school field.
