Abstract EN

This study deals with the legal status of Egyptians from racist laws in the federation of south Africa, it has found an Egyptian community in this remote region of the continent, monitored by the Egyptian consulate in the cape situation under the racist laws.

the importance of this subject stems from the scarcity of writings on it, as there is no mention of this issue in Arab and foreign writings, either from near or far.

this study relies mainly on a set of documents scattered in the archives of the Egyptian ministry of foreign affairs, especially the archives of countries, related to the tracking of the Egyptian consulate in the cape, and then the Egyptian legation in Pretoria, of the legal status of Egyptians from the racist laws in the union of south Africa.

this study attempts to answer a key question: what was the status of Egyptians in the racist laws in the union of south Africa in the period under study, i.e., were they treated as colored or Europeans? what is the Egyptian government's position on this? what are the historical circumstances for the change of attitude towards them between the monarchy and the republic?
