The art of “GAWL” is a traditional folklore art, which is sung in occasions and weddings, and known in several regions in southwest, it is characterized by its different form of several forms of popular expressions such as melodies, proverbs, sayings, puzzles and others.

it also has socio-cultural, historical, emotional, religious and mystical implications.

this research came to highlight the art of “GAWL” in dealing with its forms and contents, and is specialized in the Elbaydh area as a model for study, because of its richness in many of the “GAWL” pieces with different meanings and distinctive forms.
