يختلف مفهوم الإرادة عند شوبنهاور كثيرا عما هو لدى الفلاسفة الآخرين، فهي ليست تلك (القوة النفسية) التي تأتمر بالعقل، وإنما هي غير عاقلة فالإرادة هي (الشيء في ذاته) وهي بالتالي خارج الزمان والمكان، وهي واحدة لا تعرف الكثرة، وهي الجوهر الحقيقي الباطن للشخصية، وليس العقل.
وهذا الرأي يتعارض مع أغلب الفلاسفة الذين ينظرون إلى العقل على أنه (الجوهر).
Abstract EN
Schopenhauer's concept of will differs greatly from that of other philosophers, as it is not that (psychological force) that commands the mind, but rather it is irrational.
It is out of time and space and it is single and it represents the real essence of personality.
This opinion contradicts most of the philosophers who view the mind as the (essence).
