Abstract EN

The research aims mainly to study the relationship between the style and authority of family decision-making as perceived by university students and their academic achievement.

and it was applied to a sample of the university's students, numbering (300) students, who were selected in a random-purpose method at the faculty of specific education, Ain Shams university, Cairo governorate, from the third and fourth year students in the first semester of the academic year (2019-2020).

for this, he used standardized study tools, including the preliminary data form, questionnaire of the style and authority of family decision-making in its aspects, a questionnaire of academic achievement with its interlocutors, and the research followed the descriptive and analytical approach.

up to the following results, the most important of which is the existence of a positive tatistically significant correlation between the questionnaire of the style and authority of family decision-making in its three aspects and the academic achievement questionnaire in its five axes at a level of significance (0.01), there are no statistically significant differences between the average grades of university students according to gender (male, female) in the style and authority of family decision-making except for the aspect of family affairs management which was significant at a level of significance (0.05) in favor of females.

there are no statistically significant differences between the mean scores of university students according to gender (male, female) in their academic achievement.

there are no statistically significant differences between the mean scores of university students according to the place of residence (rural, urban) in the style and authority of family decision-making and academic achievement of university students.

there is no statistically significant difference between university students in the style and authority of family decision-making and their academic achievement according to the father's education level.

there is a statistically significant difference between university students in the style and authority of family decision-making according to the mother's education level at a significance level of (0.05).

there is no statistically significant difference between university students in their academic achievement according to the mother's education level.

there is a statistically significant difference between university students in the style and authority of family decision-making according to family income at a significance level (0.01).

there is no statistically significant difference between university students in their academic achievement depending on the income level of their families.

among the most important recommendations were holding scientific seminars in universities, as well as the work of some media programs in order to clarify the role of family guidance on the academic performance of students, so that some models are presented and some mechanisms and methods of proper dealing with children during follow-up and supervision such as exchanging phrases and words of encouragement and stimulating performance and conducting dialogue and the discussion in a calm and emotionless manner by accepting the children's opinions, even if they are wrong, and trying to correct them, in order to give the children the ability to look at any topic from different angles.
