There is doubt that distributive justice between generations requires equal distribution of opportunities of the achieved benefits and dividing the costs according to time span between generations.

This can prevent one generation to gain more advantages at the expense of other generations or bear their costs by those generations.

This guarantees the needs of the current generation without compromising the opportunities of future generations.

It is a moral duty for the current societies as a whole to take care of the needs of future generations rather than assigning this duty to the state.

The main objective of sustainable development is raising the standard of living of individuals and ensuring a better living for future generations.

This implies not to harm future generations, whether through the depletion of natural resources and pollution of the environment, or throughincreasing public debts that will become a burden on subsequent generations.

This harm for future generations may be also caused by not focusing on the development of available human resources.
